After graduating from the School of Architecture & Planning, University of Madras in 1971 Ravi has worked with M/s Zachariah & Shankaran in Bangalore, Jaisim Fountainhead for two and a half years when they had their office in Chennai and for three and a half years with Sabhiki and Choudhary’s Design Group in New Delhi. Before starting ARCHAID he had a brief stint with architect Vergis Oommen in Chennai.

Akhila received her B. Arch from the School of Architecture & Planning, University of Madras in 1974. She worked with the Design Group in Delhi from 1974 to end 1975 when she returned to Madras. Then for three years she worked with Vergis Oommen before getting married to Ravi in 1977. After marriage she accompanied Ravi to Delhi and worked with Stein, Doshi and Bhalla while Ravi continued at the Design Group. In 1978 she and Ravi came back to Chennai and worked with Vergis Oommen for a short period before starting ARCHAID.
